Commanders Coach Wants QB Jayden Daniels Free From Past Mistakes

The Washington Commanders know that Jayden Daniels can dodge defenders when he starts to run. What they don’t want is for him to also have to spring free from the ghosts of the organization’s past at quarterback.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn made clear on Tuesday that he wants his rookie QB, Jayden Daniels, to focus on his own game without being compared to the team’s past quarterbacks. The Commanders are looking to build a strong foundation with Daniels, and they don’t want him to feel like he has to live up to the expectations of previous players.

Quinn was asked about the pressure that comes with playing quarterback for the Commanders, given the history of disappointment at the position. He acknowledged that it’s a “tough” spot, but emphasized that he wants Daniels to be able to play his own game and not worry about comparing himself to others.

“We want him to feel like he can just go out there and be himself,” Quinn said. “Not have to worry about living up to anything or being compared to anyone else. We want him to just focus on his own game and be as good as he can be.”

The Commanders are hoping that Daniels will be able to bring a fresh perspective to the team, and that his youth and energy will be an asset in helping the team move forward.

“Jayden’s got a great spirit about him,” Quinn said. “He’s got a lot of enthusiasm, and I think he’ll be a great addition to our team.”

Daniels has already shown promise in his early games with the Commanders, and the team is excited to see how he will continue to develop as a player.

“I’m just trying to go out there and do my job,” Daniels said. “I’m not worried about living up to anything or being compared to anyone else. I’m just focused on being the best quarterback I can be for this team.”

The Commanders are hoping that with Daniels at the helm, they will be able to put their past mistakes behind them and start building a brighter future.

“We’re excited to see what Jayden can do,” Quinn said. “We think he’s got a lot of potential, and we’re looking forward to seeing him grow as a player.”
