Mayo, Van Pelt address Pats' QB situation
The New England Patriots suffered a tough loss to the Jets on Thursday, and the quarterback situation is now under scrutiny. Head coach Jerod Mayo and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt addressed the issue in their post-game press conference.
According to Mayo, Jacoby Brissett will remain the starting quarterback for the time being. “We’re going to stick with our quarterback as it is,” Mayo said. “Jacoby’s been doing a great job, and we’ll continue to work with him.”
Van Pelt echoed Mayo’s sentiments, stating that the team has confidence in Brissett’s abilities. “We believe in Jacoby, and we’re not looking to make any changes at this point,” Van Pelt said.
The Patriots’ offense struggled against the Jets, and it remains to be seen whether they will make any adjustments before Week 4. However, for now, it appears that Brissett will remain the starter.
Mayo emphasized the importance of sticking with the team’s quarterback plan, stating that it’s a “fluid” situation and that changes could be made in the future if needed. “We’re not locked into anything right now,” Mayo said. “But we feel good about where we are with Jacoby.”
Van Pelt added that the team will continue to evaluate their quarterback situation and make adjustments as necessary. “We’ll keep evaluating, and if there’s a change, we’ll let everyone know,” Van Pelt said.
The Patriots will face the Saints in Week 4, and it remains to be seen how they will respond after Thursday’s tough loss. However, for now, it appears that Brissett will remain the starting quarterback.
In other news, the Patriots’ depth chart is unchanged, with Drake Maye still serving as the backup quarterback. “Drake’s been doing a great job in practice,” Mayo said. “He’s getting ready to go in case we need him.”
The team’s coaching staff and players will continue to work on their quarterback play, and it remains to be seen whether they will make any changes before Week 4. However, for now, it appears that the Patriots are sticking with Brissett as their starting quarterback.
As of now, there is no indication that the Patriots will make a change at quarterback in the near future.
