Kings Camp Recap: Introducing the New Guys and Scrimmage Details
The LA Kings took to the ice again today for a similar format to what we saw yesterday. The schedule for the day remained the same, although there was a swap between Group A and Group B, with the latter taking the ice first for their morning session.
The new guys on the block got a chance to showcase their skills in front of a packed crowd at the Toyota Sports Performance Center. Among them were forwards Alex Laferriere and Rasmus Kupari, who both made notable appearances during the scrimmage.
Laferriere, drafted 47th overall by the Kings in this year’s draft, was a force to be reckoned with on the ice. He notched an impressive two goals in the morning session, showcasing his lightning-fast speed and agility. The youngster from Massachusetts is certainly making a name for himself early in training camp.
Kupari, who returned to the Kings after spending last season overseas, also made a statement in front of the crowd today. The 23-year-old forward notched an assist in the morning session and looked confident on his skates. His presence on the ice was felt throughout the scrimmage, as he moved with ease and precision.
On the injury front, forward Pavel Kaliyev is dealing with a nagging issue but seems to be making progress. According to sources close to the team, Kaliyev has been participating in some light drills during practice but hasn’t taken part in any full-contact scrimmages yet. The 22-year-old’s status will continue to be monitored by the coaching staff as training camp progresses.
Other notable performances came from forwards Samuel Toretto and Brock Jones, who both looked sharp on the ice. Goaltender Matt Villalta also made some key saves during the morning session.
The day concluded with a sense of optimism and anticipation for what’s to come next in training camp. The LA Kings are looking stronger than ever, with their young talent and depth showing great promise. As we move forward into Day 3, the excitement is building – Insiders, stay tuned!
